Wi-Fi is a wireless technology utilizing unlicensed spectrum that is provided by hotels, restaurants, and other service providers within a small radius of said business or provider. These areas of connectivity are known as “hotspots”. Wi-Fi connections also require different hardware that may or may not be built into your PC.

If you wish to send or receive email via webmail, you will be able to do so no matter if you are using the email account of an ISP or email service provider. If you wish to send or receive email via email software, please fill in the server name (check with your ISP or email service supplier) in the Incoming mail server (POP3) and Outgoing mail server (SMTP) section. If you encounter any difficulties when you send or receive email, please try to receive email first before sending email out.

The most important settings have to do with your computer’s network connection settings and your computer’s TCP/IP settings. For our WI-FI services, you need to make sure you have an 802.11b/g equipped computer and your wireless network connection is enabled. Your Internet protocol, or TCP/IP, profile should be set to obtain an IP address automatically via a DHCP server. The profile should also be set to obtain DNS servers automatically.

Any IP (Internet Protocol) address from a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server should work with the AT&T Wi-Fi network. AT&T Wi-Fi service provides fully routable/public IP addresses and does not block any ports except incoming port 80 and port 139 (VPNs do not use these ports). FASTPASS strongly recommends that its customers take measures to ensure the security of their wireless connections, such as virtual private networks (VPNs), encryption and firewalls. As with any high-speed wireless service, the FASTPASS Wi-Fi network is not inherently secure. Furthermore, wireless communications can be intercepted by equipment and software designed for that purpose.

No, the Connection Software is provided free to Membership users for expedited connectivity at AT&T Wi-Fi Hot Spots and roaming partner hot spots. The Connection Software automatically detects AT&T and roaming partner hot spots as well as stores Membership log on information for easy connectivity. If a user chooses not to download the Connection Software, log on credentials will be entered on the welcome page upon opening your browser at a hot spot.

AT&T Wi-Fi service allocates IP (Internet Protocol) addresses through a DHCP (Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol) server. Since most computers are configured to request an IP from a DHCP server, you can have high-speed Internet connectivity without making any configuration changes on your PC. In the rare case that your computer is configured with a static/fixed IP address, AT&T has software that allows your computer to connect to the Internet (in most cases) without any configuration changes.
