The protected waters of the Hauraki Gulf contain many islands, most of which are conservation islands and sanctuaries. It is seen as Auckland's marine playground - much loved by boaties, fishers, and divers. Named by Captain Cook - Great Barrier and Little Barrier Island's define the outer limits of the Hauraki Gulf.

The temperature remains fairly constant at 70-80 degrees, tempered by trade winds which help keep the humidity down to a comfortable level. You may want a long sleeve shirt in the evenings when it cools down. Of course you always have to plan for the possibility of rain, although, we are not visiting during the rainy season

San Francisco Bay is perhaps one of the most challenging and exhilarating places to sail in the country, perhaps the world, and we take advantage of it year-round. During the summer months, the combination of the cold water off shore, the hot central valley and the funneling effect of the Gate can cause very strong winds in the "Slot" running from the Golden Gate Bridge past Alcatraz to Berkeley and other spots around the Bay.

The weather is unpredictable most of the year, so you should be prepared for rain (particularly in Galicia), day-time heat and cold nights, especially in the Pyrenees, and the high passes in Galicia. See above "What about going in winter?" for advice on crossing the mountains in winter weather.

According to Promperú, the driest months are from May to September, the winter months in the Southern hemisphere. Temperatures can fall below freezing above 4500m, and it may be windy from August onwards. During the spring, September to December, there are likely to be early afternoon showers (sometimes accompanied by electrical storms) of short duration, and it may be cloudy and overcast. Nights during this season are clear (which means cold at high altitude).

Both the high school program and the middle school program have capped enrolments. The enrolment cap at Gulf Islands Secondary School, which has 650 Grade 9 – 12 students, is 70 students. We also try to limit the number of students from any one country to 12 students. The enrolment cap at Saltspring Middle School, which has 350 students in Grade 6 – 8, is 14 students, with a maximum of 5 students from any one country.

The first step is doing some research. Is this the program that you are looking for? Our program is somewhat unique. We are looking for students who are willing to work hard and get involved in our schools and community. Although it is relatively easy to go shopping in Victoria on the weekends, if you prefer shopping malls to being part of a school community, our program might not appeal to you.

For our Gulf Islands or Sidney clients a complimentary shuttle is provided from the Swartz Bay ferry terminal to Victoria.

Divers will find the health of Utila's coral to be among the healthiest in the Caribbean. Shallow coral gardens, steep, bottomless walls, virtually undiscovered banks and seamounts that rise from extreme depths, make for interesting and diverse topography. Utila is also known for its incredible diversity of reef fish and macro critters. As for big animal encounters, the whale shark is a well known visitor to these waters.

The temperature is pleasant year around. The "normal temperature" is about 30 degrees Celsius or 86 degrees Fahrenheit in the daytime and slightly "cooler" at night. In December until August there is normally not much rain at all. From September until November the monsoon normally makes it rain more here, but probably you will experience many sunny days in this period as well.

Cool during the day, chilly at night. We recommend you bring layered clothing and a sweater. Historically the average high in October has been 69°F and the average low has been 50°F.

In general, December to June are the warmest months. January to March can be hot and humid, but also mostly green at this time. July to November are cooler. The average year-round temperature is 24?C. Airfares and other taxes are not included in our published packages. Airfares and taxes may vary without prior notice. Gulf War is an annual war between Ansteorra and Trimaris, being hosted by Meridies. It takes place at King's Arrow Ranch near Lumberton, MS. It is currently held during "spring break" in mid-March each year. Ghana is very close to the equator, and so the weather is quite warm and tropical. There are two rainy seasons, one from April to June, and the other from September to October. This differs slightly from the more northern regions, but volunteers will most likely be stationed in the south. During the hottest months temperatures may get up to 100F, while during the rainy months temperatures will stay around 70F, though it will be much more humid.
