Sperm donation is the only possibility for a couple where the male partner is permanently sterile, to conceive, to live pregnancy, birth giving, to transmit part of the genetic patrimonial.  It enables the legal father to live the pregnancy with his spouse as well as birth giving.  The parents participates right from the child’s birth to its development and education.

In Switzerland, the LPMA (Article 27) states that the child can, if he wishes, ask for the donor identity and his physical characteristics (eye and hair colour, weight, height, origin). Most people feel great! Donors who know what to expect and have eaten regular meals before donating are usually fine. After donating, drink extra fluids for the next 24 hours and avoid strenuous exercise.

Samples of sperm are frozen in straws and stored in a tank which contains liquid nitrogen. The samples may be kept frozen for many years like this.

What doctors test for differs between semen analysis for infertility and semen analysis post-vasectomy. In both cases you have to provide a semen sample in a sterile container (usually by masturbation). With infertility, the test is to actually count how many sperm are present in a sample and the quality of the sperm. This process is done in a laboratory and is much more scientific than the process used for post-vasectomy semen analysis.
