You will have freehold title (private ownership) on your home parcel under Community Title structure and a share in the common property of The Ecovillage. The Ecovillage, like many new master planned communities is community title which gives rise to a body corporate and, as such community bylaws and provisions are set up to effectively administrate and manage the common property and other facilities owned by the community.

On December 8, 1988 the Academic Council approved Attachment III.A.1 called Policy for Evaluation of Faculty Instruction. This policy states The results of these evaluations will provide a portion of the information used by the administration in personnel decisions, including promotion and tenure, salaries, and awards. Hence the Academic Council has approved that these evaluation numbers can be a portion of the decision making process. The operative word, of course, is portion.

If a faculty member is placed on the tenure track, and they are successfully renewed through the end of their clock, they are guaranteed a formal review for tenure within the department. Only full-time faculty at the ranks of Assistant Professor, Associate Professor or Professor can be placed on the tenure track.

We have probation, not tenure (or tenure-track). The difference between tenure-track and probation is as follows. Tenure-track: tenure is not only not automatic, but tenure is withheld unless there is a strong reason to grant it. Probation: the contract becomes permanent unless there is a strong reason to withhold it.

For assistant professors appointed from 1 September 2006, the period of probation is normally 5 years. The period can be shortened, if appropriate. The successful completion of probation is followed by automatic promotion to the associate professor grade.

The vote to merge does not affect the tenure rights of any currently-tenured faculty. New tenure decisions affecting MCPHU faculty will be made in December. Tenure decisions relating to MCPHU faculty proposed for tenure at the School of Medicine are expected to be considered by the PHEC Board; and the Drexel Board is expected to consider tenure for SPH and CNHP faculty members (both currently tenured and those proposed for tenure).
