Yes, this is possible. However the procedure is extremely risky and should not be attempted if you cannot afford to lose the contents of your partition. Ensure that you either have a backup of the partition or are prepared to possibly have to reinstall everything. First off run Defrag on your PC to collect all the files towards the start of the partition.

GNU parted, a partition editor, is stable enough for non-guru, mere-mortal use with relative confidence. Source code for the latest version is at: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/parted/. There's also a boot disk image for resizing root partitions and for running parted on non-Linux machines. The disk image may be easier for beginners. Building from source could require some extra configuration.

To grow a partition using fdisk(8), you will have to delete it and recreate it with a larger size. When recreating it, ensure you specify the same starting disk cylinder as before and a ending disk cylinder that is greater than the existing one. Otherwise, not only will the resize operation fail, but you may lose your entire file system. Backup your data before performing this task.

We strongly recommend against resizing or formatting a hard drive partition that contains bad blocks, as this could lead to a total data loss on this partition. In Linux disks are named hda, hdb for the first two disk on the first IDE controller and hdc, hdd for the third and fourth disks. SCSI disks are named sda, sdb, etc, in the order they are discovered.

Failure to upload an avatar may result in an appropriate cartoon being used in it's place. InDesign is kind of funky in that images can be played with in different ways. Unlike most programs, dragging on the boundaries of an image won't immediately resize it; instead if just changes the picture frame. So imagine you have an object behind a wall and there is a hole in the wall. You can move hole or make it bigger or fill it in so that you see different parts of the image. To actually resize the image you would need to go behind the wall and move the object.

Just make sure that in the Environment window's View menu, "Protect Cabling/Positions" is unchecked and "Cables" is checked. Then you have a tiny square in the bottom-right corner of the ornament which resizes the object (like it does with other Environment objects as well).
