When installed on Skutt UL kilns, the EnviroVent is the only L listed downdraft vent system. Some kiln vents use an electric motor which may have been UL listed for general room temperature use. It tests electrical components and equipment for potential hazards. When something is UL-listed, that means that the UL has tested the device, and it meets their requirements for safety - ie: fire or shock hazard.
