You can find items at all three Chandler libraries by using our catalog. Go to our homepage, chandlerlibrary.org and click the "Catalog" button in the upper left corner. You can then search by author, title, subject, or other keywords. To combine terms or to look for a particular item type (video, audiobook, etc.), use the Power Search.

It used to be I could point to Bill Sherman's amazing muppography, but it's no longer on the web (nor available via archive.org). This is sad news indeed for those keeping track of Muppet items. VIDEO: many Muppet TV and movie offerings are now available on video. The first three Muppet movies, including Muppets Take Manhattan, are widely available (e.g., through Amazon). Other Muppet movies, and some "Muppet Show" compilations, are also available.

Books and audio cassettes/CDs are checked out for two weeks. Magazines, music CDs, CD-ROMs and videos/DVDs are checked out for two weeks.

Room-Use Only (2-hour use in the library only items; these items do not circulate outside the building) The Library will try to obtain additional copies for multiple requests of the same title. Loan periods may be shortened until the additional copies arrive.

Return your materials as soon as possible. There is a book drop available outside Meadows Library and Ayers Campus Library as well as a drop slot in the door of the Anniston Center Library if you arrive after hours. Materials should be returned to the library you borrowed them from. Your materials will be checked in the next day. You will be charged a fine for each day each item is late. Books are $.10 a day, and video tapes are $.50 a day.

We're happy to investigate materials you'd like to see in the library. Either leave a message at the front desk, give us a call, or send us an email with information on the items you'd like to see added to the collection.

The Library gratefully accepts the donation of books and audiovisual materials. These items must be clean and in good condition. Each item will be evaluated for its suitability for the collection. Please, do not donate textbooks or Reader's Digest Condensed Books to the Library as they do not sell at our used book sales. The Instruction Media Center, on the lower floor, has documentaries and other educational videos, DVDs, and films, as well as CDs, LPs, educational software, pictures, and more. Videos and films are included in LIUCat, but materials in other formats are not. They can be located through a card catalog inside the IMC. A catalog of DVDs is also available on the website and in hardcopy.

DVDs can be checked out for seven days. New adult fiction and periodicals (magazines) can be checked out for two weeks. All other materials, including videos, new non-fiction and audiobooks have a loan period of three weeks. Most items can be renewed one time. Renewal can take place in person, on line, or over the phone. Magazines, except for the most recent issue, can be checked out for two weeks. Previous issues for 3 to 4 months are kept under the current copies.

The Evansdale Public Library does have a limit of ten books and three videos that can be checked out at one time.

Videos and DVDs are generally kept in the Media Collection, on the 3rd floor of 180 Tremont (Ansin Building). To find out if you can check out a video or audio item, the chart below may be helpful. Videos and CDs that are part of a Master's Thesis Project are usually kept in the Archives. Those materials may not be checked out, but may be viewed by contacting the Archivist and setting up an appointment

All materials are helpful to some degree or another. Recordings serve best as a supplement. At some point live human beings should be introduced into the equation. Many "American" travelers (not all) are famous for their preference for tourist guides, maps, and elementary recordings over human contact. Finding a good teacher can help overcome the tendency toward isolation. Beware of claims by some that their materials are free of boring drills.

Yes. The library has a growing collection of audio-visual material. You can search for material in the catalog just as you would a book, using title, author, (or composer, director) or by subject.
