Absolutely. The whole purpose of the ECDL is to give people the chance to learn the basic skills needed in computers and to then give a recognised qualification. More and more employers are now asking for evidence of being able to operate a computer and the ECDL qualification is proof of this. Also regardless of employment needs, people find that by studying the ECDL materials they can now get more use out of their computers and have far more confidence.

Some overseas universities give recognition to ITE qualifications for entry into their courses. However as for employers, if you possess the skills which they require they may accept ITE qualifications. It all depends on the employers. these are new courses, progression opportunities for graduates are yet to be confirmed, i.e., admission requirements to diploma courses in the Polytechnics.

HKAS recognises accreditation granted by its MRA partners. This will largely depend on the qualification, where obtained and/or how it is assessed versus a New Zealand qualification. The New Zealand Qualifications Authority (NZQA) is the government organisation dealing with qualification assessments. Recognition of your qualification does not automatically mean that you may carry out your profession in New Zealand.
