To simplify the process of retaining and destroying files as required by your firm’s policy, it is important that the system track documents correctly. One aspect of tracking is identifying when a file is a version in the same document thread and when it is the start of a new one. To assist you in making the correct decision, the Document Retention service prompts every time you use Save As to create a new copy or version.

When you use a tracked file to create another file, you are prompted to decide whether the new file is in the same document thread or the start of a new document thread. This is the most convenient and reliable method of tracking documents if you are just starting to use the application.

Your print cart is emptied when you close your browser; however, you can save the print ready document to your desktop. To save the document, click the "Print" link in your Print Cart to open the document in Acrobat Reader, and then go to File - Save A Copy to save the PDF to your computer.

You can save a document hit list by cutting and pasting the document citations from your hit list onto your word processor application or viewer. In this way you can easily tailor the hit list to your immediate needs and save the product.

The most basic text editor, WordPad (Included in Windows ME+ Operating Systems), has the capacity to save a file in Rich Text Format (.rtf). More advanced software such as Corel Word Perfect and Microsoft Word will also allow the user to save a document as a .rtf.

In your word processing program, when you go to "Save As" (not just SAVE), you will see a window pop up, and look for the window that says "save as type". Using Distiller, instead of PDFwriter, is supposed to better preserve the document's original appearance, according to Adobe. Adobe has a good set of technical documents at their website.

A particular image always gives an error that says something about 'decode' or 'strip' or 'bytes expected' or something similar.
