PIXImus II utilizes Dual Energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) technology. A small x-ray source exposes the entire animal to a cone shaped beam of both high and low energy x-rays. A high-resolution digital picture (0.18x0.18mm) is taken of an image of the x-rays hitting a luminescent panel. The ratio of attenuation of the high and low energies allows the PIXImus to separate bone from tissue and, from within the tissue samples, the lean and fat.

In the Lunar book, we learn that a Lunar Exalted cannot have a natural soak (i.e., soak gained from Stamina, Charms, and Beastman-form Gifts) higher than 12L/12B. [Lunars, 127] Any points of natural soak above that amount "spill over" and allow the Lunar to totally ignore weak attacks. The Player's Guide refers to this as "hardness"; Power Combat changes many soak Charms to provide hardness.

PIXImus stores all bone, tissue, animal biographical data, ROI locations, ROI dimensions, date\time of acquisition data, plus a whole lot more, in a text file. This text file is easily imported to almost every statistical spreadsheet program available.

TCAS II is a system used for detecting and tracking aircraft in the area of an aircraft. TCAS interrogates transponders in other aircraft and analyzes the replies to determine range, bearing, and relative altitude (if reporting) of the intruder aircraft. When the TCAS II processor determines that a potential collision hazard exists, it will issue visual and audio advisories to the pilot/copilot for appropriate vertical avoidance maneuvers.

Accuracy was initially determined using phantoms of known values in the research labs at Lunar and a correlation study between the PIXImus and gravimetric and chemical extraction techniques was performed by one of their test sites. The test site utilized C57BL/J6 mice weighing between 19-29 grams (n=25), a Soxhlet, and petroleum ether. Correlation to lean tissue mass of the total body was excellent (r=0.99) where as the smaller components of fat mass and bone mass was very good (r=0.93 and r=0.

Precision was determined at test sites where they found the PIXImus to be highly precise on both tissue and bone results when live mice (n=25, 19-29g) were imaged three times each. The mean intra-individual coefficient of variation (CV) was: lean tissue mass 0.86%, fat mass 1.60%, BMC 1.60% and BMD 0.84%. Analysis of in vivo mouse femurs (n=27) have excellent precision at 3.31% for BMC and 1.20% for BMD (see the abstract section for details of these and studies).

PASS-Key II works with a small resistor chip embedded in your ignition key. This chip gives a certain resistance. When the ignition key is inserted into the car for the very first time at the factory the computer controller memorizes the exact resistance of that chip and will not start again w/o it. The PIXImus II has software that can analyze mice and other animals outside of this range, like ob\ob and infant mice, with some manual input. The imaging window (80x65mm) is large enough for the body of a mouse or similar sized animals, but will miss a portion of the head on larger mice.

This option only worked if you had Timegraphs I in the same subdirectory with Chartwheels. With Timegraphs II on your system this option is now disabled. The way to go easily from one to the other of these two programs is to always start Timegraphs II first. In Timegraphs II's main menu, to go back to Chartwheels, select the "Go to Calculation" option. This starts Chartwheels or another calculation program found or selected when you ran the TGSETUP installation program.

The tent cover is a fitted piece of heavy waterproof material utilizing nylon straps and clips for retention. Just unclip the straps and the cover removes completely to be folded flat and stored away. Installation is very easy! Simply drape the cover over the folded tent and snap the clips together. The Scangauge II will work on most cars and light trucks since model year 1996. There are also some 1994 and 1995 models which the ScanGauge II will work on (see compatibility). There are some vehicles built after 1996 that the ScanGauge II will not work on or has some limitations in the gauges and trip information (see incompatible vehicles). The ScanGauge II will clear the codes and turn off the check engine light on 99% of 1996 and newer vehicles.
