OSHA is the government agency responsible for overseeing workplace safety and health. OSHA enforces The Code of Federal Regulations (CFR) in order to prevent work-related injuries, illnesses and deaths. CFR Part 1910.178 is the OSHA Regulation for Powered Industrial Trucks and includes the requirements for designation, classification and permitted location use.

The Occupational Safety and Health Administration is a department of the federal government that is responsible for enforcing a vast number of regulations which are primarily oriented toward safe working conditions. Many small business owners are unaware of the extent of OSHA regulations and what they need to do to comply. The legislation applies to defined "health information custodians" where they collect, use or disclose personal health information. A health information custodian includes doctors, other health care practitioners, hospitals, and long-term care facilities. It also includes health care clinics, laboratories, pharmacies, the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care, and other health-related organizations.

It’s a landmark piece of legislation that shields workers and the public from the harmful effects of tobacco by banning smoking in enclosed public places and enclosed work places. It also strengthens laws on tobacco sales to minors and restricts the display of tobacco products in retail outlets. A complete ban on the retail display of tobacco products will come into force on May 31, 2008.

It is the statute concerning the voluntary and involuntary treatment of seriously mentally ill individuals in Pennsylvania. It applies to all psychiatric hospitalization in the state. Section 201 is that part of the Act relating to voluntary consent for a psychiatric examination and treatment. Anyone 14 years of age or older can consent to inpatient treatment. Admission is based on the determination of a psychiatrist that this level of care is needed.
