We see more and more hybrids every year. My personal opinion is that BRAG is easier if you use a road bike with skinny tires because it has less road resistance. And road bikes tend to be lighter weight than fat-tire bikes. Those with mountain bikes may want to put slicks on their bikes. You will never ride alone on BRAG. There will always be someone riding at or near your pace.

Our bikes are best described as touring bikes. They are specifically meant for loaded travel. They are a combination of both road and mountain bikes. In Mauville City, to the right of the PokeCenter is a bike shop, head in there and talk to the man on the left. If you choose the top option, he will give you the Mach Bike, choose the bottom option and you have the Acro bike. You can change bikes by talking to him again. The Mach Bike allows you to get over cracks and up mudslides. You must be at top speed to get over the cracks and up the mudslides, so start off at a distance and hold down the direction button.

You do not need to have the most expensive racing bike available. You can use a mountain bike, touring bike or a racing bike. The most important points are that it is the right size for you and it has been well serviced for your safety.

State Parks that offer Mountain Bike trails include Jubilee College State Park in Brimfield, Rock Cut State Park in Loves Park, Kickapoo State Park in Oakwood, Red Hills State Park in Sumner and Argyle Lake State Park in Colchester.

Most people ride hybrid or mountain bikes on these trails. They both work fine, especially with conservative tires, for example semi-slick tires. A road or touring bike equipped with slightly knobby tires will also work well. However, a road bike with slick skinny racing tires isn't really suitable for this trip. More details.

Like learning to climb a hill, you will need to train for a while until you are able to keep up. Don't expect to just hop on and go as fast as you used to, or you'll be disappointed. Rest assured, eventually you'll be able to keep up. And, you'll be a lot more comfortable than they are! It also depends on the type of recumbent you ride. Some models are more comfort-oriented, while others are designed for speed.

Yes, we will allow Mtn bikes for first starters in our Wheelers Grade and Beginners Grade. In the interests of safety we will require you to be on a Road Bike as soon as you can. Great to hear it. We currently don't have a track! (It got removed as part of Yarrow Stadium revamp). Our Track Committee is working through issues and red tape with the goal of getting a new track for North Taranaki Cyclists. We will keep you posted on developments.

The Commission is charged with the development and use of the land in park. The Commissioners have three main concerns: SAFETY, EROSION, and VANDALISM. Mountain Bikers are a highly visible group. When we ride irresponsibly and endanger the safety of others or cause erosion, the Commissioners will review the agreement and biking could be banned from the park.

Bikes are a very popular way of getting around while actually on the park. Most people will not need to take them, but they will make it much quicker to get around what can be quite large parks. Alternatively you can walk. If you book bicycles in advance at all continental parks (except those in France) you will save 20% on the cost, which is a worthwhile saving.

Mountain bikes generally are not permitted off road in any national park. On unpaved roads or trais at Great Sand Dunes, mountain bikes are either unsuitable because of soft sand, or not permitted because of wilderness designation. The Zapata Loops at the Zapata Falls Recreation Area, 9 miles south of the Visitor Center, provide mountain biking trails of varying difficulty. The area is managed by the Bureau of Land Management.
