If you prefer to drive yourself from Vancouver to Whistler, a distance of 121kilometers (75 miles), you should be aware that, while the route is relatively straightforward, the weather conditions can make driving unfavourable and even hazardous in the winter. In general, most visitors to Whistler do not rent a car unless they know they wish to explore other parts of British Columbia well outside of the Whistler/Blackcomb area.

There are scheduled transfers from Vancouver airport every 1 - 2 hours or from downtown Vancouver. Other options are limousines/taxis or for groups, you can charter a van or motor coach. Under normal conditions you drive it probably in about 4-5 hours. However faster is possible. The road from San Jose to the Tree House is paved all the way. At night it will probably takes a little more. However, I really not recommend you to drive after dark in Costa Rica. People sit on the sites of the roads, there are pot holes every where and signs are very poor. I really recommend you to do the drive from san jose to the tree house by day time.
