One must remember that the idea of Forensic Science is limited only by the students demonstrated abilities. Clearly some areas of emphasis will require specific education. As an example, one who emphasizes the psychology area will not likely qualify for a job as a Forensic Chemist (and visa-versa). The M.P.H. degree is a rigorous course of study requiring 48 credits. Part-time students enroll in 2 courses (6 credits) per semester in order to complete the degree within 4 years. Primary Health Care and Health Disparities track graduates are experienced health care professionals, including nurses and nurse practitioners, naturopaths, chiropractors, health educators, and program directors, researchers, etc. with a commitment to reduce health disparities in their communities.

A maximum of 4 units may be accepted towards the M.P.H. degree; however, the course curriculum must be reviewed and approved.

No, this is optional. Many scholars may already have a master's degree in addition to their doctorate. Other scholars may feel that this type of degree does not fit with their best interests. Scholars are free to explore other graduate degree or non-degree options if they can effectively fit it in with their curriculum, research interests, and clinical responsibilities.

Yes! In fact, the School of Medicine has arranged for a limited number of tuition stipends through the Oregon Laurel program and the Department of Public Health and Preventive Medicine has arranged for additional tuition scholarships. If awarded any of these scholarships, students must take a minimum of 9 credits and maximum of 16 credits to meet funding requirements. Students who enter this field with a two-year degree can expect to earn a mean salary of between $27,000 to $30,000 per year. Employment opportunities include careers as case managers, counselors and/or client advocates in a variety of treatment settings. Often, adults returning to school need refresher courses to prepare them for the rigors of college-level work.

Your options are wide, but limited. A Psychology education provides valuable skills and abilities, and if you are willing to be flexible, you can make a career for yourself starting with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. Often, psychology graduates work in a paraprofessional role (i.e., a support role for a psychologist). Some job titles might include counselor, aid, or psychology technician.

Requests to transfer credits are considered on an individual basis after students are admitted to the Program. In order for transfer credits to be given, a course must be a graduate course from an accredited institution, appropriate to the student's course of study at EKU, and approved by the student's advisor, the Program Director, and the Graduate School. A maximum of 12 semester hours may be transferred and the 7 year time limit also applies to completion of such.

Most applicants enter our MPH program. It is sometimes called a "professional" or "terminal" degree, which means that students are expected to terminate their education at this point and not go on for doctoral education but rather work in their profession for the rest of their career. In contrast, the MS degree is designed for students who are interested in going on for their doctorate. The MS degree is research-oriented, where the MPH degree is oriented toward practitioners.

Yes! The University now runs residential type degree programs in addition to taking courses online. This dual mode of learning will be of immense benefits to our students.

There are basically two general types of positions at the District: academic and non-academic positions. Within these two position types there are several other categories of positions. Part-time Faculty applications are accepted all year long and for any subject area. Applications are accepted for a pool of qualified candidates for a variety of temporary teaching positions. These recruitments are on-going and generally do not have a fixed closing date.
