RefWorks & EndNote are both citation managers and do much the same thing. Think of EndNote as desktop software that is purchased for one computer with one license. All of your citations are saved essentially on that one computer--you can not access your citations from anywhere else (& hopefully they are backed up else from this one computer). Aff_Manager comes bundled with an Access 2000 database for ease of distribution. Aff_Manager will run great with this database; however, in a high-volume production environment, it is recommended that you use an enterprise database application like SQL Server. Refworks contains filters for many databases and information vendors. However, if you do not find a filter for a particular database, you may enter the citation information manually. To move the location of the queue database, the SYS$QUEUE_MANAGER.QMAN$QUEUES and SYS$QUEUE_MANAGER.QMAN$JOURNAL files, to a disk that is fast(er), has plenty of free space, and that is not heavily used. If the queue database is on a (busy) OpenVMS system disk, you can and probably should move it off the system disk to another disk spindle. Checkpoint the journal file. The most common reference managers, such as EndNote?, ProCite?, or Reference Manager? should be able to import references in MEDLINE format. Choose 'MEDLINE' instead of 'Summary' format and click on 'Save'. This will download all hits and save them in MEDLINE format in a file on your disk.
