If you have received the type of state or federal assistance on the REQUEST FOR WAIVER OF EXAMINATION FEE form within the past 12 months, you may apply for a fee waiver. To have your fee waived, complete the form and submit it with your application. You must include appropriate supporting documentation verifying your eligibility under the program (s) you have checked on the form. These forms are available at many local City and Town Halls and at the human resources department.

Each examination program has unique rules regarding fee waivers (and refunds) due to absences. In some cases, such as illness, a car accident, weather-related problems, or other circumstances, you may be eligible for a fee waiver. Please follow the instructions noted in the candidate handbook regarding absences.

For United States citizens and permanent residents, the fee can only be waived if you received, or were eligible to receive, a GRE fee waiver through your undergraduate financial aid office. To qualify for a waiver of the GRE fee you must be (1) a U.S. citizen or resident alien and (2) a currently enrolled senior who meets the GRE Board financial-need guidelines.

The application fee helps defray the cost of processing applications. It is never waived and must be paid in dollars. We accept credit cards with the electronic online version and personal checks, bank checks, or money orders if a credit card is not available.

The registration fee is nonrefundable under any circumstances. The exam fee will not be refunded if a candidate fails to test within the assigned 90-day testing period, or if a candidate fails to cancel and reschedule an assigned appointment with within the appropriate two business days' notice period, or if a candidate fails to submit a written request to the PNCB for withdrawal, extension, or reassignment five business days before the termination of the 90-day testing period.

The $25.00 individual program application is not waived under any circumstance, and in fact, has remained static since the inception of CLE in 1987. The $100.
