We recommend Ceramic Tile Adhesive also known as or sometimes referred to as mastic, which is a white acrylic latex adhesive, which will bond ceramic tiles to structurally sound secure dry flat surfaces. It is excellent for setting ceramic tile over drywall and therefore excellent for applying dabs to the rear of our Ceiling Tiles and applying to your ceiling as described. We also recommend Liquid Nail, especially for application to Wood and Metal surfaces.

Animal hide glue is our preferred choice on antiques and early 20th century furniture since this was the type of glue originally used. Hide glue is not only very strong, it is also repairable and reversible and historically correct when repairing antiques. Repairable means we can tighten a loose glue joint originally glued with hide glue by softening the hide glue with warm water and clamp. Ceiling Tiles are paintable with an emulsion, acrylic or other water based paint. It is recommend that they be painted with an airless paint sprayer. We do not recommend you paint with Spray Cans of Paint due to the propellants that create the spray. Yes, because of their light weight, you don't need to scrape the popcorn. No prior preparation of the ceiling is necessary. The tiles are made to be installed (glued) to the ceiling. With some modification of the slats the tiles can be dropped and will look just fine. All of the tiles are produced in Europe to their standards. That is why they only come in these dimensions. Not really. Basically, you use pull-offs and start at the heel. Often the glue will have begun to crack at the heels somewhat, and you start from there and it will peel or snap off. If a few nails were used in addition to the glue, they should be pulled out individually with crease pullers first, then pry the shoe off. Click here to see an example of this process.
