It is possible for the AMAYA rotary hook to slip from the factory-set hook timing. Inadequate timing between the hook and the needle can be one of the causes of upper thread breaks. Are you using a sideless bobbin? It is recommended that you do not use sideless bobbins in your machine(s); sideless bobbins may affect the Out of Bobbin detection system. Review your material thickness settings (remember: one embroidery point is equal to the thickness of one sheet of paper, thus, picture the default thickness of 3 points as 3 layers of paper). If the thread trimmer only trims the bobbin thread, it is only doing half the job. Since the operator must trim the top thread, we feel it is better to simply push the single stitch button on our machine and bring the bobbin thread to the top side, where both top and bobbin threads can be trimmed simultaneously. You will need three stitches on your machine, and the good news is, they are ones found on virtually every machine. The first is a straight stitch which should have a length of between 2 and 2.5 mm or between 10 -12 spi. Make sure you are sewing with 1/4" seam allowances, too. The second stitch is a zigzag, with a length of 2 and a width of 2, or if your machine doesn't use mm settings, it's a small zigzag. Picking is the fracture of coating layer. It occurs when tack of the ink exceeds the cohesive forces of coating on to the base paper or the printing pressure is too high to pick the coating or the paper surface. Piling occurs if the paper coating is too sensitive to fountain solution and the coating dissolves and gets deposited on the blanket.
