How do I get the air out of the fuel lines if my diesel tractor ran out of fuel?
Tractor CountrySince diesel tractor engines work off high pressure, if air gets into the fuel line (like when you run out of fuel) the tractor may no longer want to start up. (If you do not see smoke when you crank the engine, you probably have air in the line which is preventing the fuel from getting to the engine.
What do I do if I my diesel tractor won't start?
Tractor CountryIf your tractor will not start and you do not see smoke (and sometimes even when you do) when you are cranking it, then you may have air in the fuel lines (see below question and answer on how to fix). If your tractor will not start, you do see smoke while cranking, and it is fairly cold outside (<50 degrees) then it might just be the temperature. Diesel engines are notably harder to start the colder it gets outside, but this is why most diesel engines come with "glow plugs". See similar questions...

How do emission, fuel economy and power compare with biodiesel and with diesel fuel?
FAQ - PlantDrive? International - convert diesel to run on v...Emissions results do vary between engines and test equipment, but in our tests on an early 80's VW turbodiesel, opacity (which is used as an indicator of particulate emissions) was reduced by about 50%, compared to premium diesel fuel. Other EPA regulated emissions were about the same for all the fuels tested. Power was equal to premium diesel that test. We find no difference power while driving, between diesel and SVO/WVO, as long as the filter is clean and the SVO is heated. See similar questions...
Why are children more susceptible to air pollution and diesel exhaust?
School Bus Diesel Emissions - Frequently Asked QuestionsChildren are more susceptible to air pollutants because their lungs are still developing and their airways are narrower than those of adults. In addition, children often play outdoors during the day and may be more exposed. Children raised in heavily polluted areas have reduced lung capacity, prematurely aged lungs, and increased risk of bronchitis and asthma compared to peers living in less urbanized areas. Will Biodiesel dissolve my fuel lines?
Green Car CompanyBiodiesel is a great solvent and it will degrade natural rubber fuel lines, which are sometimes found in older vehicles. All newer cars have synthetic rubber fuel lines, which have no problem transferring Biodiesel. If you have an older vehicle and run Biodiesel you can determine if you have natural rubber fuel lines because the lines will appear to be sweating after a few weeks of use. Simply replace your fuel lines with synthetic rubber ones and your vehicle is ready to go. See similar questions...

What specification requirements of diesel fuel should concern me and why?
FAQSulfur content, Cetane number (ignition quality), cleanliness, lubricity, low-temperature operability and stability are the diesel fuel requirements of principal concern to you. With the introduction of the 2007 model year, diesel powered vehicles have to meet stringent emissions limits. The equipment used by vehicles to meet those standards depend upon a fuel with very low sulfur content, 15 parts per million (ppm) or less, referred to as Ultra Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD).
