Ratio basically determines how much you are sharing with others. Torrent is an anti leeching protocol and requires everyone to share what they are downloading with other peers connected. It is simple calculated by the formula Ratio = Uploaded/ Downloaded So the more your upload, higher is your ratio. ie. Suppose you have downloaded 100 mb. Now even if you upload 100mb, then your ratio is 100/100 = 1. If you upload 75mb then your ratio is 75/100 = 0.75

If you are the first seeder of a new torrent, make sure you dedicate as much bandwith as possible to upload this torrent. The bandwith for a new torrent should be at least 20kb/s, the more the better of course. Stop other uploads if needed. Especially when uploading big torrent, make sure you have enough bandwidth to seed at least one full copy in a decent time. It does not make sens to seed a 1GB file on a 56k connection as it would take forever to spread the file!

Making a torrent is not as difficult one would think. All that the torrent making software does is hash the files of content (which makes the torrent identifiable), add the announce URL (so those who download it can connect to the tracker) and add the various file information (such as file names, size, etc.). There are various programs/clients that are able to create torrents.

When I try to download a .torrent file, why does my Macintosh get a file named "www.dimeadozen.org" instead? Then my client won't open it, because its name doesn't end in ".torrent".

Check the placement of the shared files. They must be in bt-clent's incoming folder with all other downloaded files.

The share ratio is how much you have uploaded vs. how much you have downloaded. This is sometimes displayed as a ratio. For example, 1:2 would mean that you have downloaded twice as much as you have uploaded. Once the download is complete, if the share ratio is less that 100% (or 1:1), it means that you have uploaded less than you have downloaded, and to close the file at this point could be considered selfish, and against some sites' BitTorrent sharing standards.

On any Kaboodle list, simply click "E-mail List" in the bar beneath the list title. Enter as many email addresses as you like on the "To:" line (and use a comma after each email address when you’re inviting more than one person). Then type a message if you want and click the "Send" button.

If for some reason (e.g. pc crash or a frozen client) your client exits improperly and you restart it, it will have a new peer_id, so it will show as a new torrent. The old one will never receive a "event=completed"or "event=stopped" and will be listed until some tracker timeout. Just ignore it, it will eventually go away.

When a file is first released, no one will have any parts of the file. The user that created the torrent (or someone else that has the complete file) will seed the file by running their bit torrent client, "downloading" to the location of the complete file. They are added to the tracker's list, and all the clients start to download from the seeder.

To help clarify, when you upload a .torrent file to this site you need to re-download that same .torrent file. Why you ask? Well because this is a private tracker and your new upload will be tagged with your own personal "Pass key". This pass key allows only members to download from this site and until you re-download it the system does not see you as a member. It is not the entire data file you uploaded just the .torrent file (very small) When you download this .

First you need a DVD movie which you can share. Note that the movie can't be bigger than 4.3GB. If you want to compress the movie you can read alot of tutorials on Doom9.org. Put the movie in a directory which as the movie name, for example X:\Big_Fish or X:\Big_Fish\VIDEO_TS. Download MakeTorrent (its free}, install and run it. Browse to your files and select the files in the directory (from step 2), put this adress in the tracker window: http://www.acetorrents.net/announce.

Note, SpamCop now features a way to refuse or accept each type of report individually. So if you get a lot of erronious "web hosting" report, but you still want to be alerted to abused open relays on your network, you should use the new report selection preferences. If you just want to avoid all mail from spamcop, fill out this form. Make sure you use the same address here that SpamCop is using to send you spam reports.

A very simple inexpensive solution is to place your container in a wooden or cardboard box with a 15 watt light bulb, then cover the whole thing with a cloth to keep in the heat.

Your share ratio can be found in the "User Info" box in the upper right corner of your screen. It represents the amount of information that you've downloaded vs. the amount you've uploaded. It is a general indicator of how much of the music you're sharing back after you've completed downloading it. In an ideal world everyone would have a share ratio of 1.0 which means they uploaded exactly as much as they've downloaded.
