Expansion joints should be filled with an elastic compound. We recommend a rubber-like urethane with a Shore-index of approximately 94. To ensure that the joint can be filled properly, a width of no less than approximately 10 mm is recommended. Air loss is minimal when the filter is slightly curved upwards.

Yes it definitely is possible to fit new tiles on top of an old tiled floor providing that none of the underneath tiles are loose or uneven. However it is not advisable as the cost would be high and you would be reducing the headroom (height between the floor and the ceiling). However if you still want to go ahead, then see that the existing surface provides a good 'grip'. Boards that are fitted using a Woodloc or Uniclic system do not have to be glued. Boards that use with tongue and groove fitting should be glued on all four sides using the correct wood glue, that has a low moisture content and is very strong. Stitch glue the long edges of the boards applying the glue to the top edge of the groove in a stitch method. i.e. place a bead of glue approx 100mm long leave a space of 100-150mm then place another bead 100mm long. The gutter conceals any leaks. The leaks go undetected. The structure corrodes. Once water (carrying salts and other corrosion causing chemicals) has bypassed the primary joint system, costly and dangerous degradation of the structure begins. This is because water runs over the concrete on its way to the gutter. During this passage it will make its way to the rebar. The rebar will corrode, expand, and spall the concrete. If all the setting are correct on a boiler the expansion tank should never need to be drained. The tank constantly has water in it so ever if you drain it water will flow back into the tank.
