In the Event/Matrix/Score editor double click (not single click; this is important) the MIDI-In status button. Now when you select a specific note, you can affect the velocity and pitch by triggering your controller. So this does what you want basically, but it alters both pitch and velocity together. So as long as you hit the correct note on your keyboard controller, you can edit the velocity via the sensitivity with which you strike your MIDI keyboard as you originally wanted to do.

Right now MusEdit is mainly for guitar, bass, banjo, mandolin, and other stringed instruments, flute, clarinet, and other woodwinds, trumpet, trombone, and other brass instruments, percussion instruments, drum kits, vocals, acoustic piano, and for all the other instruments which don't have MIDI output (ie. virtually everything except electronic keyboards).

There are a few tips regarding this subject on the forums. PS/2 apparently is not recognized by OS X if there is a USB mouse attached. The easiest solution is to use USB keyboard and mouse, or some mice include an adapter to allow them to operate off the PS/2 mouse port. Basically, you need to be all one way or the other for the OS to function correctly. Alternatively, people have found that sometimes going into BIOS and disabling the USB (legacy) keyboard and mouse settings work.

There is not USB keyboard module in the current kernel, but it is possible to install user-built HID kernel modules and an event redirector to enable the use of the USB keyboard with applications like rxvt.
