In order to receive HUSKYvision, you must have a cable-ready TV, VCR or converter box. To determine if your equipment is cable-ready, check your owner's manual. If you do not have the owner's manual here are some guidelines to determine if your TV is cable-ready. If your TV was purchased within the last 7 years or if you can use your remote to enter channel numbers, then there is a good chance that your TV is cable-ready.

Televisions manufactured in the early 90s and labeled "cable ready" tend to have limited channel capacity ranging from 0 to 30 or 40 channels. In cases where your television will not receive more channels, a set-top box from HTC Digital Cable will be necessary to receive networks located on higher frequencies. Televisions manufactured in 1996 and later were built with increased channel capacity, capable of receiving as many as 130 channels.

Yes you do. In order to establish a non-addressable system, it is essential to have a converter. A cable ready TV, VCR and a Cable Company box do not provide for this feature and in not doing so, cannot replace a converter. You must have a converter to use a descrambler. This is especially true if you desire a converter/descrambler that cannot be altered or addressed by your cable company.

Satellite TV. Satellite signals are digital transmissions that deliver a quality almost comparable to laserdisc with CD quality audio. Cable TV is an analog signal and can suffer from degradation under a variety of circumstances. Also, satellite systems typically offer a wider range of programming and since recent laws have changed, it is now possible to get your local networks over satellite as well. This is not to say that satellite TV doesn't have it's drawbacks, though.
