What is slink and how does it compare with shearling sheepskin?
Kangaroo Crossing frequently asked questionsSlink is spring lamb hide. Shearling is hide from older sheep - typically one to two years old. Shearling hides are larger, thicker and the wool is indeed shorn to a uniform length (usually less than half an inch in length). Slink hides are softer, more supple and lighter in weight than shearling hides. The wool on slink hides is naturally short & curly and prickle-free - slink wool doesn't need to be shorn.

Some people will wear through the bottom in a season and we can honestly say that we have had people whose soles (souls?) have lasted ten years. Sheepskin and Shearling FAQS and Facts From Shepherd's Flock...It is simply a matter of personal preference and personal habits. Many people simply don't like a slipper with a ridged bottom (Kathy is one of them). However, if you are one of those folks who seem to run outside "just for a minute" in your slippers day in and day out you will be much happier with the durability of the crepe sole.
