It is unlawful for any person to create or allow the creation of any noise which causes the noise level to exceed the noise standard for a period not less than 30 minutes when measured at the property boundary or beyond. The noise cannot exceed the noise standard plus 15 decibels (dB) in any one-minute average or the noise standard plus 20 dB at any time during measurement.

Excessive noise - The most common problem on campus and in residence hall facilities. Between the hours of 6:00 PM and 12:00 Midnight, each floor designates four hours as study time on nights preceding undergraduate class days.All residence hall facilities observe quiet hours from 12:00 Midnight until 8:00 AM. During exam periods, quiet hours are in effect 24 hours a day.

In the License Commission Office, the Chief Licensing Investigator is the person responsible for investigating noise complaints. However, there are some noise complaints over which we do not have jurisdiction.

Noise is any unwanted sound. Noise can come from loud music, a chainsaw, machinery, guns, or motorcycles .

The best method of dealing with noise in the workplace is reducing the noise at the source with engineering controls. At best, engineering controls can eliminate the need to provide hearing protection, hearing testing, and other elements of a hearing conservation program altogether. At a minimum, noise control can improve speech communication and reduce annoyance due to noise.

The noise and dust associated with construction are regulated by County ordinances and will be enforced at the site. A water truck will be used on site to keep down dust stirred up by earthmoving equipment. Because most of the work takes place in one location, the effects of mud and dust on Holcomb Bridge road are expected to be minimal. Street sweepers will be used to clean any road where soil from the site may accumulate.

For those of us in the shop, it's a proven fact that over exposure to high levels of noise can damage our hearing. Prolonged Noise also causes body fatigue. For those in the house, working in the home office, talking on the phone or just trying to get some rest, controlled noise levels are very beneficial.

At no time should amplified sound or yelling be directed out or at residents’ windows. Do not play musical instruments in your room that may disturb your community.

Absolutely not. The Department will continue to review and recommend changes to the codes and the City Council will continue to be the body where the codes are revised. Given the City's unique, high-density environment, modifications of national codes will likely be necessary and the new codes will require a review every three years.

A junk vehicle is any vehicle that is or was originally designed to move under its own power and does not have lawfully attached to it an unexpired license plate OR a valid motor vehicle safety certificate; AND is wrecked, dismantled, or partially dismantled; OR is inoperable and has remained inoperable for more than 72 consecutive hours on public property or 30 consecutive days on private property.

Noise in residential areas is restricted by time of day, as well as the intensity level and duration of the noise event. The noise ordinance is designed to address recurring noise sources such as pool pumps/motors, air conditioning units and other stationary noise sources. Active noise control is quite different from noise masking. Acoustic masking is the practice of intentionally adding low-level background sounds to either a) make noise less distracting, or b) reduce the chance of overhearing conversations in adjoining rooms. In active noise control, the system seeks not to mask offending sound, but to eliminate it. Masking increases the overall noise level; active control decreases it, in some locations if not all

The Noise Control Ordinance (NCO) (Cap. 400) provides control on most type of environmental noise except aircraft noise, road traffic noise and marine traffic noise.

The Civil Aviation (Aircraft Noise) Ordinance (Cap. 312) provides control on aircraft noise, with the Director of Civil Aviation as Authority. You can lodge a complaint to the Department of Civil Aviation against excessive noise generated by aircrafts (and helicopters), regardless they flies over residential buildings or other noise sensitive receivers.

Occupational noise (that is noise generated inside a factory or other industrial undertaking affecting employees working there) is subject to control under the Factories and Industrial Undertakings (Noise at Work) Regulation (Cap. 59), which is enforced by the Labour Department.

The question is usually posed like this: "I heard about a new noise control technology called Active Something-Or-Other ... can I use it to make my house quiet when the kid next-door plays 'Black Sabbath' on his electric guitar?" The technology in question is "active noise control," a.k.a. "active noise cancellation," a.k.a. "anti-noise," and it is one of the hot research topics in acoustics these days.

In general, the erection (including excavation), demolition, alteration or repair of any building in a residential or business district is allowed between 6:00am and 9:00pm, with a permit.
