Bottled vs. tap water. Municipal water is used as a source for approximately 25% of the bottled water sold in the United States. However most of this processed water has gone through significant processing such as reverse osmosis, deionization, activated carbon filtration and other treatments. Often it is packaged as "purified" or "drinking water". If the water has not been substantially altered, then it must state on the label that the water comes from a municipal water source.

For most people, eating a variety of foods makes it easy to consume enough vitamins. Also more vitamins won't improve energy performance, unless you were vitamin-deficient to begin with. Consuming enough water is important for your bodies proper hydration. If you prefer flavored water over plain, check the label for calories per serving and added sugars.

Any chlorine in our drinking water is too much, however the EPA guidelines (water quality specks) allow up to 4 parts-per-million (ppm) in municipal tap water. This is alarming as a standard pool test kit shows that levels above 3 ppm are not safe to swim in. Common sense tells us that if it is not safe to swim in, it is most likely not safe to drink! The evidence that chlorine is linked to cancer, heart disease and many other health problems is overwhelming.

Consistent quality and taste are two of the principle differences between bottled water and tap water. Quality is in every container of bottled water. It's consistent and it is inspected and monitored by governmental and private laboratories. Unfortunately, tap water can be inconsistent -- sometimes it might be okay while other times it is not. While bottled water originates from protected sources (75% from underground aquifers and springs), tap water comes mostly from rivers and lakes. The U.S.

The average tap water measures 3,000 to 4,000 Bovis, in the negative range. Bottled waters have been measured up to 5,000 Bovis, still negative. The neutral point for the human body is about 6,000. This low Bovis level of water (or of any liquid or food) actually robs your body of energy when you drink it, although this negative level water is still essential for life, so that you stay hydrated, etc.

You can, and if you don't have an ionizer you should. But you probably won't get the water habit as both types of water are difficult to drink as your tummy feels full after drinking a little. This is because as the water molecules are arranged in large clusters, the water doesen't flow so well, or hydrate a well as ionized water, which has much smaller clusters.

Often it's not easy. First, carefully check the bottle label and even the cap -- if it says "from a municipal source" or "from a community water system" this means it's derived from tap water. Again, you can call the bottler, or the bottled water program in your state or the state where it was packaged.

People prefer bottled water for its quality. It does not contain calories, caffeine or alcohol. Unlike tap water, which uses chlorine as a final disinfectant, bottled water is most commonly disinfected with ozone, which does not leave a residual taste.

Bottled water is not necessarily any safer than your drinking water. However, the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) certifies some brands of drinking water.
