Because the tattoo is applied to skin, which tends to differ from individual to individual, the need for retouching tattoos varies. Factors such as exposure to sun, individual skin type, cuts and scrapes, and the general care given to the tattoo are all considerations.

It is very rare that a second operation is necessary. Rarely, the crease needs to be deepened or lengthened. In that case, there may be a fee for the operating room. There is no charge for Dr. Schiller to perform any touch-up surgery.

A touch-up is a color re-enhancement. Almost always the implanted color is not perfect after the first procedure. These procedures are processes and at least one follow-up to the initial procedure should be scheduled...It is recommended that you do not traumatize the skin again for a minimum of four weeks. Six weeks is better but of course, your individual needs take precedence. Eight weeks is recommended after a lip procedure.

This varies from person to person depending on how much abuse the tattoo receives. (Example: sun exposure)

Eat the day that you are getting it. This is important. If you don't have anything in you, you might very well pass out. Orange juice is good too, it has all the stuff to keep you going strong. The tattoo artist will prep you in the chair, this includes shaving the area you are having tattooed and cleaning the area (can burn). Take this time to enjoy the smell of the blue soap. This smell will become your friend.

Yes. UV exposure can fade the coloring of a tattoo so we recommend covering any tattoo with a good sunscreen or a lip balm with sunscreen.

It is better to make an appointment to ensure the artist has enough time to work on your tattoo, but walk-ins are welcome if the artists are not busy and can fit you in when you stop by.

Yes. Electrology has never been a problem for tattoos. In fact it is one of the few hair removal methods that doesn't affect the design.

Generally, tattoos heal in about 2-3 weeks after the procedure, during this time, the tattoo should be kept clean, dry, and out of direct sunlight. Many artists recommend the light use of moisturizing lotion on the tattooed area during the healing process. Individual artists may also recommend the use of a topical antibiotic ointment during the first few days of healing.
