How can I optimize routing performance on the HP ProCurve Switch 2650 and Switch 6108?

ProCurve Networking by HP ??" Support ??" FAQs
Note: In the following discussion, route summarization is the grouping of multiple smaller subnets into a single larger one. In other words, it is the collapse of multiple routes with a long mask to form another route with a shorter mask. The HP ProCurve Switch 2650 and Switch 6108 have a network route table with 16 entries and a host route table with 128 entries. The network route table gets populated by the static routes configured in the switch (up to 16 static routes). See similar questions...

Can I mix "standard" and "EP" modules in an HP ProCurve Routing Switch?

ProCurve Networking by HP - Support - FAQs
No. The "standard" and "EP" modules cannot be mixed in a single chassis. However, the 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10 GbE) modules are supported with either a "standard" or an "EP" redundant management module. That is, the 10 GbE modules will function properly in a chassis of "standard" modules or in a chassis of "EP" modules. See similar questions...

What happens if the management module for my HP ProCurve Routing Switch 9300 Series fails?

ProCurve Networking by HP - Support - FAQs
However, the HP ProCurve Routing Switch 9308m and 9304m will continue to switch packets (similar to an unmanaged switch). If you are concerned about management redundancy, the following redundant management modules are available: No. The operating system required for the redundant management modules is different from the operating system required for the non-redundant management modules. They can not be mixed in the same chassis. See similar questions...

Do the HP ProCurve Switch 212m and 224m support 802.3 Tagging VLANs?

ProCurve Networking by HP - Support - FAQs
These switches are compatible with the larger (1522 byte) tagged packets created when VLAN tagging is implemented on a network. However, VLANS are not configurable on these switches. So these switches will pass the 1522 byte tagged packets but will not read and act on the VLAN ID which is contained in the tagged packets. This means that these switches can be used on networks with tagged packets but the tagged packets will be treated as normal packets and switched to proper ports. See similar questions...

Return to top Q: Will the ProCurve 5400zl or 3500yl support routing when Switch Meshing is enabled?
