Automated Boarding Pass is a Customer-specific paper document that qualifies each Customer for boarding, and can serve as an itinerary for the Customer to pass through security checkpoints. This paper document replaces Southwest's traditional "plastic" boarding pass and allows convenient Customer checkin at more than one location within the airport. Southwest Customers will still board in groups, as some ideas are just too good to change.

The Automated Boarding Pass receipt is the Customer's proof of boarding and it's very important that all Customers keep it until reaching their final destination. For example, if a Customer forgot to get Rapid Rewards frequent flyer credit when checking in for a flight, this receipt would be needed as proof the credit was earned.
