A scholastic average minimum of a B (3.0 on a 4.0 scale) or better is required for the last 60 semester units or 90 quarter units of undergraduate study. Applicants should keep in mind, however, that the average GPA for entering students is approximately 3.5.

There is not a minimum GPA requirement. Our average for the class of 2008 was 3.4. Students who are admitted with a GPA below a 3.0 are admitted on a probationary status and must maintain a 3.0 or higher in the fall semester in order to continue with the program.

No. Many factors are considered in the admissions process. However, you will want to note our average and range of scores in our most recent class profile. We will see all of your scores but will take your higher score if you take the test twice. If you take the GMAT more than twice, we consider all scores, but don’t average them.

The Graduate Council requires a bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or foreign equivalent. A Foreign undergraduate degree must be equivalent to a 4-year U.

We do not take the GPA into consideration. With many different scales being used throughout the country, plus the inability to claim that a GPA means the same thing from one school to another, there is no solid measure upon which it can be determined what a “good GPA” might be.

Entering students normally are expected to have completed the B.S. degree requirements with at least a 3.0 grade-point average in all coursework taken in the junior and senior years of undergraduate study. Students entering the Ph.D. program are expected to have completed the requirements for the master's degree with at least a 3.25 grade-point average, and to have demonstrated creative ability. You need to be aware of a sobering reality: admission to a health professions school is a highly competitive process. This means, of course, that these schools will draw candidates from the high end of the GPA range. Consider these statistics. The most common GPA for applicants admitted to medical schools nationwide, for example, is 3.75. At Upstate Medical University, the median overall GPA for accepted applicants is around 3.65 (3.57 for the science GPA).
