You have a CD with all of the OSR2 files except the setup program ("setup.exe"). This CD is distributed by some large OEMs with complete systems. The idea is, you have all the OSR2 files, in case you want to add or remove OS components, however, you have no setup.exe file, so you can't install OSR2 on another system. However, if you copy all of the files from the CD onto a hard disk, and then copy dossetup.bin, oemsetup.bin, oemsetup.exe, setup.exe, setup.txt, suhelper.bin, and winsetup.

I only have solid information about IBM Thinkpads. The word from Thinkpad support is the following: Any PCI-based Thinkpad is compatible with OSR2, and in fact, OSR2 is recommended. HOWEVER, you MUST update your Thinkpad BIOS to the latest version (available from the Thinkpad support site). If you do not have the latest BIOS, your Thinkpad may not boot with OSR2 installed, especially if you are using FAT32. Furthermore, the "hibernate" utility/file will not work on a FAT32 partition.

OSR2 comes in clear shrink wrap, a manual and one or two CDROM disks. Without breaking the shrinkwrap, you should be able to see a single sheet of paper between the manual and disks. On the manual, the certificate of authenticity does *not* have a hologram of a little boy in front of a computer on it. One CDROM is the OSR2 CDROM, and says "Microsoft Windows 95" on the spine. The other CDROM is called "Microsoft Windows 95 Starts Here/How & Why" and is not always included.

Microsoft claims that it is. The only part of the Plus pack which is not included with OSR2 or a free download from Microsoft are all the Themes and the System Agent (which is quite buggy and nasty, IMHO). Dial-up networking scripting and RAS server are included in the ISDN 1.1 Accelerator Pack Plus! components included with OSR2 are: Drivespace 3, Internet Setup Wizard, Internet Explorer 3.0, Dial-up Networking scripting.

Goldmine, Symantec ACT! v.3: Both of these applications have problems with the OSR2 version of vredir.vxd. Goldmine and ACT! databases can become corrupt under OSR2. In both cases, the workaround is to replace the OSR2 version of vredir.vxd with the original release or OSR1 version of the same file.

There is nothing unique to OSR2 which fixes problems in earlier versions of Windows95. Bugs in earlier versions of Windows95 are either: Not fixed by any means, and also not fixed in OSR2. What is unique to OSR2 are new features & capabilities such as FAT32, APM improvements, Bus Mastering support, PCMCIA enhancements, CDFS enhancements, MMX support, etc. See Microsoft's Market Bulletin on OSR2 for a complete list.

APR stands for annual percentage rate, which is the annual interest rate a credit card company charges you for a one-year loan on the balance of your credit card purchases. It's important to know that APRs vary from one company to another, so do your homework and shop around for a credit card that has the lowest APR. If you know you're going to pay off your credit card balance in full each month, then you don't need to concern yourself with a credit card's APR.

The UMF number (e.g. UMF10+) is a standard way of describing the bacteria-destroying power of the product. The honey is put in a plate with a bacterial culture, and the area is measured where the bacterial growth is stopped. this area is compared to a similar area produced by a solution of phenol and water. The number refers to the percentage of phenol in the water. So UMF 10 is honey that has the same bacteria-killing power as 10% phenol.

The star after the serial number is a replacement note that was issued to take the place of a defective note that was discovered. Using the * ('asterisk'=SHIFT-8) key will get it into the system. Since it's too cost-prohibitive to re-issue the same serial number, it's easier to print up a bunch of star notes and then use them to fill the stack once the defects are pulled out. Most star notes don't command a premium unless they are uncirculated, and/or have a real interesting serial number.

Simple, because it isn't available to buy in computer stores! This OSR2 version of Windows 95 was shipped quietly by Microsoft in August 1996 to OEM manufacturers to bundle in with their systems. This means, you can only get it if you buy a brand new computer ( or a motherboard in some cases ) in the last quarter of 1996.

Older 486 motherboard BIOSes do not support IDE hard drives bigger than about 512MB; some older Pentium motherboard BIOSes (as recent as February 1996) do not support IDE drives over 2GB. If you run an IDE HD off such a motherboard, then you have to use a third-party disk manager to access the entire drive. However, these limitations have nothing to with FAT32, that is, if you can get FAT32 on the drive, it will work.

Answer: APR or Annual Percentage Rate. The APR reflects the cost of your mortgage loan as a yearly rate. This rate may be higher than the rate stated in your mortgage or note because the APR includes, in addition to interest, loan discount or points, and other credit costs.

Most large OEMs (Dell, Gateway, NEC, Micron, HP, Compaq, etc) are shipping some systems with OSR2, though usually not with FAT32 enabled. If you are considering buying such a system, and having OSR2 on it is important to you, then you should try to find out what version of Windows95 the specific model you are interested in is shipped with. Mar 97 Okay, I got my new system from a large OEM, but I didn't get a C D with it. It says I can make a set of floppies, but I want a CD! You're stuck.

It is true that the OEM versions of just about any software can be purchased cheaply and "unbundled" at computer shows... both legitimate and pirate CDs are available, though it is often hard to tell the difference. This section contains some pointers towards identifying the counterfeits. Cheap! The price in and of itself doesn't determine if the merchandise is counterfeit, but be suspicious if the price is too good to be true.

These boards are constructed using the width of the wood. The surface has a wide grain pattern that shows off the natural ovals and swirls of the wood. This technique is the least suitable for boards that will be used for chopping or cutting, but it provides an elegant look. Such boards may be used for serving and display.

Some patients have small areas of fat around the face, mostly at the neck under the chin, and in the folds between the bottom of the nose and the corners of the mouth. This fat is removed by liposuction with very small suction cannulae. Incisions can be made in hidden locations such as inside the nose, at the corner of the mouth and under the chin. Liposuction of the face is usually performed at the same time as a face lift. The most common areas to be treated are the neck and chin area.

What you pay for a credit card can be expressed as an 'Annual Percentage Rate' or APR. An APR takes into account: You do not need to know how to work out an APR. The important thing is that APRs show the cost of borrowing on a standard basis. So you can compare the APR of one lender with another. The APR also lets you compare the cost of credit cards with other types of borrowing. Of course, a loan with a lower APR is cheaper than a loan with a higher APR.
