Creating depth maps for photographs is somewhat trickier because you have to create depth information from a 2D image. In most cases, using the linear and radial gradients in the plugin will suffice, However, for certain shots, manually creating a depth map will yield more accurate and realistic results. To create a depth map, color the objects in the foreground white, and those in the background black.

Please note that switching to the 3dsmax scanline renderer will not take displacement into consideration as well as some other renderer-dependent modeling effects. It is important to recognize the difference between a depth map and a focus map. They are not the same. A depth map contains information regarding the location of objects within the scene. A focus map contains information regarding the focal point of the camera. Select the objects on the first map that you want to display zoomed in the second map. Copy those to the clipboard. Create a new map, and paste those objects into the new map. Now scale the objects so they're the size you're looking for. This will provide a basis for your detail map. When using a 3D render software, you should always use the eight views approach. This will result in best possible images. A 3D image, made of colour image + depth map, doesn't contain information about object edges and will always result in a "relief" of a 2D image. Yes, and no. It is possible to make a hologram of photograph, but photograph itself contains flat, 2-D image information. Therefore on the hologram it will also look flat. It would look just like a flat photograph floating in the space on front, or behind the frame. The third, missing dimension of a photograph cannot be reconstructed by holographic process. It's easy! Your wig will come carefully packaged in tissue. Just remove any tissue paper, and hold the wig by the neck (where the tag is). Give the wig a gentle shake.
