A static line is a fixed length of rope usually with some sort of quick-release on each end which is attached to a moving vehicle at one end and the hangglider at the other. Often a tension gauge is inserted in the towline to insure that the hangglider is not towed too hard.

You will generally arrive early in the morning (8:30-9:00am), complete your waiver and start the classroom training. Your day will be a mixture of classroom and practical training to prepare you for a skydive with your own equipment.

AFF consists of nine levels of freefall training. Once jump #1 is completed, it usually takes only about an hour to prepare for each additional level. You can expect to do 3 levels in a day, if you have the time to spend at it. That means you can complete Jumps 2-9 and graduate in only 3 days. With the static line, you will continue similar type jumps (minimum 15 jumps), until you can pull the parachute yourself and then gradually work your way up in freefall.

Static only occurs on the analog side of the phone system (the telephone itself and the telephone cables). Once the signal is sent through the VoIP device it is digitized eliminating any possibility for static. It is also very likely the person you are calling is on an analog connection. Their connection could also be causing the static.

Static or buzzing noises on your line can only occur on the analog side of the phone system. This analog segment consists of your phone and phone cable. Once the signal is sent through the phone adapter, it is digitized and can no longer create static or buzzing. Cordless telephones can generate static due to a weak signal-connection between the base of the telephone and the handset.

Static on the telephone line is normally caused by a problem with the cable infrastructure. The cabling is not covered under the ServiceNOW™ agreement. Technician trouble-resolution of the cabling is done on a "time and material" basis. The RIMOOS monitoring system can be set up to automatically send real-time alarm information to the customer.

Depending on the circumstances, the static line can be secured to a wall bracket (provided with each system) a pre-designated roof exit, or to an extension static line (provided with each system) that can be attached to a structure like a desk leg or column.

We think that ANY skydive is a good one to do! Accelerated Freefall (AFF) is more for those that really want to learn all they can about skydiving. In static line training there is no freefall until your 6th jump. Tandem Jumps are more of an introduction, but do count towards your future training. If you only plan to make one jump ever, we recommend a tandem. If you think you might become a regular skydiver and pursue the sport, then try an AFF.

Note: Noise could be coming from incoming calls and/or cordless phones which DRN has no control over.

It is not normal to hear buzzing. This can be caused by interference with cordless handsets or faulty grounding in the phone circuitry. Try another corded phone to see if the buzz stops. Connect your phone directly to the IAD to eliminate any possible faulty wiring problems in the home circuitry. This can be a result of a carrier routing particular calls over a route where high latency occurs.

If both of these things are true, can you locate the line in your telephone system and swap the port to a port that is not having problems. If the static follows to the new location (for example, line two has static, you swap it with line one in your phone system and now line one has static) then the problem is definitely not in your telephone system and you must call your service provider for assistance.

Well, there is (almost) no demand for static libraries so far. If you want them anyway and are capable to deal with the problems as described in the in question above, then you may retrieve the set of Makefiles for OS/2 and build them on your own.

It depends on the number of people that are in the class. Usually you will be able to make a second jump the same day you train. We do not recommend making more than three jumps in one day simply because of the "sensory overload" factor.

You'll generally make at least 5 static line jumps. On 3 of those jumps, you'll pull a practice ripcord. If you perform properly on all 3 of those practice-ripcord-pull jumps, you'll move on to your first freefall. That first freefall takes place from about 3,500 ft. You'll gradually move up to higher altitudes for longer freefalls depending on your skill progress. Some people get up to "the top" on about their 13th jump.

Video is often available for tandem jumps. The club does not offer this service, but some of our individual members do. They charge $60 for a DVD. For static-line jumpers... we often videotape your jumps for replay as a training aid. Copies of these tapes can be purchased for a small fee..

Yes. Once you've made a tandem jump, if you take the static-line course before the end of the calendar year, the price for it is reduced to $130. Likewise, if you've made a static-line jump and then wish to have the experience of a tandem jump, the fee for the tandem is reduced to $130.
