GNU parted, a partition editor, is stable enough for non-guru, mere-mortal use with relative confidence. Source code for the latest version is at: ftp://ftp.gnu.org/pub/gnu/parted/. There's also a boot disk image for resizing root partitions and for running parted on non-Linux machines. The disk image may be easier for beginners. Building from source could require some extra configuration.

Yes, this is possible. However the procedure is extremely risky and should not be attempted if you cannot afford to lose the contents of your partition. Ensure that you either have a backup of the partition or are prepared to possibly have to reinstall everything. To grow a partition using fdisk(8), you will have to delete it and recreate it with a larger size. When recreating it, ensure you specify the same starting disk cylinder as before and a ending disk cylinder that is greater than the existing one. InDesign is kind of funky in that images can be played with in different ways. Unlike most programs, dragging on the boundaries of an image won't immediately resize it; instead if just changes the picture frame. So imagine you have an object behind a wall and there is a hole in the wall. You can move hole or make it bigger or fill it in so that you see different parts of the image. Just make sure that in the Environment window's View menu, "Protect Cabling/Positions" is unchecked and "Cables" is checked. sometimes my bases are what you're looking for, but not the right size. if that is the case, go ahead and make it any size you want. you can remove any limb you want. if you want to frank a basebody limb with another basebody limb from my collection of bases, i won't object. if you want to erase a limb and draw one on yourself, i won't object.
