All our puppies sold as Pet quality are sold with a Spay/Neuter contract. The Buyer agrees to spay/neuter their puppy between 7 months and 11 months of age, with our preference being at 9 months of age. The Buyer will provide proof of the spay/neuter in the form of a certificate from their Veterinarian on the Veterinarian’s letterhead and signed by the Veterinarian before the puppy turns 12 months of age to Woodcrest Kennel LLC.

Yes. In addition to helping to reduce the over population of abandoned animals in our local shelter, there are multiple medical advantages to having you pet spayed or neutered. Typically we recommend doing this procedure between 5 and 6 months of age.

One of the leading causes of death in pet animals is mammary gland and testicular cancers. Early altering will prevent the sexual maturation and greatly reduce (almost eliminate) the incidence of these cancers. One of the most common reasons animals are abandoned have to do with housebreaking. The scent of estrus is noticeable to dogs for five miles! Instinct causes your dog to respond to this scent with urinating in their surroundings to mark their territory.

Ask your vet and go by what they say if this is the route you choose to go - but I recommend waiting until the pup has had the series of puppy shots and they get their last shot at 18 weeks- then wait a month or so for the pups immunities to "kick in" - then have the spayed or neutered.
