WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN 802.11 a, b, and g?
Brooklyn College Wireless HotSpotb wireless protocol (11Mbs) is the most commonly used and has now been superceded by backwards compatible 802.11g (54Mbs). The college wireless system will respond to either 802.11b or 802.11g devices. 802.11a is a standard that will not be supported fully at the college because it's advantages have been incorporated into the 802.11g standard. Although some 802.11a connectivity may be provided in some areas, we recommend that you use the 802.11b/g standards.
What is the difference between this and 802.11 technology?
DuPage Wireless FAQ'stechnology vastly under uses the available bandwidth and has trouble coping under load - the more subscribers it has, the slower the system becomes. The Dupage Wireless Motorola Canopy system gives you the same consistent, burstable bandwidth. based systems are somewhat obsolete. 802.11 based systems also have poorer performance as the distance between the access point and the subscriber module grows - the further you live away from the base station, the slower your access will be. What's the difference between the different protocalls a/b/g and such?
WiFi FAQ - MP3Car.comapplies to wireless LANs and provides 1 or 2 Mbps transmission in the 2.4 GHz band using either frequency hopping spread spectrum (FHSS) or direct sequence spread spectrum (DSSS). a -- an extension to 802.11 that applies to wireless LANs and provides up to 54 Mbps in the 5GHz band. 802.11a uses an orthogonal frequency division multiplexing encoding scheme rather than FHSS or DSSS. b (also referred to as 802.11 High Rate or Wi-Fi) -- an extension to 802. What's the difference between the "B" version and "non-B" type?
Technical SupportThe earlier units only had 1/4" inputs and outputs. Inputs are fully balanced, outputs are single-ended (some say "quasi-balanced") auto balancee/unbalanced. Ability to drive longer cables is less and high frequency rolloff can be a concern due to cable capacitance. Around 1994 we updated the design and changed to the "B" designation. These units have fully balanced inputs and outputs, both XLR and 1/4" TRS connections being utilized. Functionally the units are virtually identical. See similar questions...

B) What is the difference between Energy and Power?
PV FAQ - PhotoVoltaic Frequently Questioned AnswersPower is the rate of doing work. It is an instantaneous quantity, measured in watts. A watt is 1 joule per second. Energy is power over a period of time. It is measured in watt-seconds, but that unit is too small for everyday use, so the unit kilowatt-hours is more commonly used. Note this is a controversial subject - not because there is any disagreement, but because some people are either lazy, uninformed or misinformed and misuse the terms. See similar questions...

What is different between Wireless-B and Wireless-G?
Taman Tech Computing ServicesG is faster. B is 11mps, G is 54mps, IIRC. If it's for broadband Internet, it's likely to be moot. Both are faster than most ISPs will upload to your system. If you plan on sharing files locally, faster is better. Another side benefit is that G equipment is backwards compatible with B equipment - so, if you have a laptop with a G card, you'll still be able to connect to both G and B networks should you ever roam. The range is 0dBm to 30dBm but as there are different radio cards used in the RWV the max value can be different for each radio. The max value of each radio is listed on the spec sheet, this value can not be exceeded as at a minimum the radio performance will drop and at worst case the radio can become damaged after an extended period of time.
