No, these have been found to be harmful to new developing tissue in a chronic wound. A chronic wound is a wound that has been present for more than sixty days. For an acute wound, like a fresh scrape or cut, peroxide or betadine (povidone-iodine) could be used to cleanse the wound. When using Amerigel® Saline Wound Wash AND AmeriGel® Wound Dressing together, it is not necessary to use peroxide or betadine.
