What is the right way to install the AEM bypass valve?

rd Generation Eclipse FAQ
The beaded part of the MAS adapter needs to be cut off. This removes about a half inch of material from the adapter. If you purchased your bypass valve while ordering the AEM intake from RRE, this has already been done to your MAS adapter (they cut it for you). The adapter itself can cover up to half of the bypass valve without effecting it's function. If more of it is covered up, it is not guaranteed to work when needed.

Q: What is the AEM Bypass Valve?

Import Horizon Your Source For Import Performance Parts and ...
A: AEM's patented air bypass valve virtually eliminates the chance of hydro-lock in the unlikely event the filter of your AEM Cold Air induction system becomes submerged in water. The valve installs along the upper portion of the inlet pipe and shuts down induction at the filter when it becomes submerged, rerouting air through its external diaphragm to keep water out and air flowing in.

Can I install a fence on the right-of-way?

TVA: Vegetation Maintenance FAQ
Yes, as long as the type and location of the fence do not unreasonably interfere with TVA’s easement rights. For example, landowners can install agricultural-type fences, such as those made of three-strand barbed wire or woven-wire. More substantial fences, such as stone, brick, wrought iron, and chain link, present some difficulties.

Is there a way to bypass the equalizer in the unit?

Technical Support
Unfortunately no. However we do offer the SCP 1 and 2 (CP 52 and CP 64 respectively) security covers for covering just the equalizer slide controls. First check all the wire connections at both ends of the remote. All five wires must be connected for proper operation. Also make sure you didn't "flip" the wiring at one end of the cable. It happens very frequently. Also note that once the front panel RMT button is pressed "in" both the PROGRAM SELECT and LEVEL functions only work at the remote.

Why a Bypass Valve?

Magna Charger, Inc. - Frequently Asked Questions
The best kept secret in forced induction is the little known bypass valve. This small valve, when properly installed between the supercharger and the air throttle body, allows the supercharger to become extremely efficient in terms of economy and parasitic power loss. Our M90 supercharger uses less than 1/3 of 1 HP at 60 MPH cruising. The bypass is operated by a vacuum actuator control unit that is normally closed.

What is right-of-way?

Fencing Online
Right-of-way is the set of rules used to determine who is awarded the point when there is a double touch in foil or sabre (ie. both fencers hit each other in the same fencing time). It is detailed in the FIE Rules of Competition, Articles 232-237 (foil) and 416-423 (sabre). Since no points will be scored in the first situation, we can ignore it. In the second situation, the fencers' actions have equal significance, and it is impossible to award a touch.

How do I install a Bypass?

Bypass FAQ's
Install a section of the appropriately sized duct between the supply and return trunks. Insert the Bypass damper into this piece of ductwork. The opening to the supply side must be before any trunk dampers and the opening to the return duct should be as far as practical from the equipment. This will allow for the supply air to mix with a maximum amount of the return air.

Why and how should I bypass the EGR valve/line?

_2
The EGR re-routes some of the exhaust gases back into the intake/combustion chamber. This is basically done to reduce emissions. Blocking it off will reduce the temperature of the intake since the gases fed back through the EGR are very hot. Lower intake temperature produces more power, but the amount of gases that are passed through the EGR is VERY minimal and probably won't result in much (if any) performance gain. The drawback is increased emissions.

How does this bypass valve work?

Conrad's RSX tuning Page: Tuning from existing Hondaata cali...
It is a butterfly valve like the one in the throttle body (see picture). The default is closed. When vacuum is high (idle-cruising) an actuator opens the bypass valve so that intake air bypasses the compressor. When accelerating, vacuum decreases and the bypass valve instantly closes. Intake air now goes through the compressor, building boost. More power means more fuel means larger injectors. However, in order to pass CARB, the base kit had to use the stock injectors.

Can I install a septic tank or field line within a transmission line right-of-way?

TVA: Vegetation Maintenance FAQ
Yes, as long as the installation does not unreasonably interfere with TVA’s easement rights. A tank or field line should be installed deep enough that it would not be damaged by heavy maintenance vehicles and equipment going across the right-of-way. Before doing any of these activities, we recommend that you contact the TVA representative responsible for the right-of-way in your area. Also see Question 13.

Can I install a drainage ditch, pond, or backfill, or excavate within the right-of-way?

TVA: Vegetation Maintenance FAQ
Yes, as long as such activities do not unreasonably interfere with the ability of TVA and its contractors to go across the right-of-way or to perform construction and maintenance activities. Before doing any of these activities, we recommend that you contact the TVA representative responsible for the right-of-way in your area by clicking on the map. Also see Question 13. Can the owner install fencing on the right-of-way?

Cheyenne Plains Gas Pipeline Company
Yes. However, it is important that the one call authority be called. Fence posts should not be installed directly over the pipe, and fencing should not be installed in a linear fashion parallel to and above the pipe.

What is the purpose of a bypass valve (bpv)?

Stinger Performance 2.3T FAQ
The Bypass valve (BPV) performs the same function as the BOV above. The only difference is the air is recirculated back into the intake tract in front of the turbo, not released to the atmosphere. The BPV recirculates excess air when the throttle is closed during shifts or deceleration, creating a muffled "woosh" sound. Source: TurboByGarrett.com - Turbo Tech101

What is a CAI bypass valve for? Does it work?

w w w . v a n c o u v e r c i v i c s . c o m
In the event of the CAI filter being completely submerged in water (eg: deep puddle) this gives the CAI a seperate "bypass" area to draw air into the engine, without taking in water to the engine - resulting in hydrolock (your engine is pooched due to ingesting water). Cheap insurance for CAI.

What are the differences between the Mitsubishi and the GFB bypass valve?

Flyin' Miata 1 800 FLY MX5s
Mainly construction. The mitsu valve is all plastic, the GFB unit is all metal. The latter is also adjustable.

What if I don't install a Bypass?

Bypass FAQ's
Without a Bypass System, you will be trying to push too much air into the available ductwork in a given zone(s). This may cause air noise at the registers.

Is a customer required to install a shut-off valve?

Shut Off Valve FAQ's
GWA previously interpreted its rules in a manner that the customer must install a customer shutoff valve. This interpretation was based on several factors including recognition that the practice is good for GWA as well as the customer and that it is a standard practice for utilities. GWA has re-examined its interpretation of this rule and concluded that it may have been erroneous and it is our intention to pursue a rule change that will eliminate any uncertainty in the interpretation.
